What is Prizes.org?

Updated on: by Amy Kennedy

prizes.orgI recently read about Prizes.org on another review site and thought I would check it out for myself. I was surprised to realize there are a lot of businesses and people willing to payout good money for ideas, tips and suggestions!

There are dozens of contests going on now at Prizes.org where people are asking for your help. You can enter the contest by answering their question or supplying whatever tip they are asking for. At the end of the contest, they will pick one winner and that person will win the cash!

As an example, currently I see a contest titled “Hep us find a name for our social network”. If your idea is chosen, you will win $150! Better pay than PickyDomains!

Some others I see:

  • “Give me a nickname for Skype” -$20
  • “Need domain name suggestions for an e-commerce website” -$50
  • “Best way to advertise a referral link” -$20
  • “How to Develop an Invention” -$50
  • “Name for an entertainment news blog ” -$50

These are just a few of the many contests you can enter right now. You can enter as many as you want, but only one entry per contest. You can also get votes by other users or your friends and if the creator of the contest does not come back and choose a winner, whoever has the most votes will get the Prize!

If you win a contest, your prize will be added to your credits and available for deposit to PayPal as long as you have at least $5 (or credits). You can also earn by referring others to Prizes.org. If one of your referrals win a contest, you will earn a bonus of 10% of the amount of their earnings!  However, I have searched the site over and again and I can’t find any type of referral link or way to email referrals. The only way I know to gain referrals is by sharing contests you enter or make on Facebook and Twitter, but still a good way to increase your chance to make some free money online!

Check out Prizes.org’s FAQ page for any unanswered details and start entering some contests!!!

You can also check out the following similar options:

  1. Innocentive – This is a problem-solving platform that invites thinkers from all walks of life to help solve various challenges and pays for solutions.
  2. IdeaConnection – This site provides a space for innovators to sell or license their ideas, or collaborate on research and development challenges.
  3. MindSumo – MindSumo hosts ‘challenges’ posed by different companies, and participants can submit their ideas to these challenges. Winners receive cash prizes.
  4. Chaordix – Companies use Chaordix to crowdsource ideas for products, services, and process improvements. The platform allows for community members to be rewarded.
  5. CrowdSpring – This platform is a crowdsourced design site, where businesses hold contests for design elements like logos, websites, or product design. It’s slightly different, but creative thinkers can definitely be rewarded.
  6. Kaggle – While Kaggle is more focused on data science, it does offer cash prizes for innovative solutions to complex problems.
  7. UserTesting – Businesses use UserTesting to gain feedback on their website usability. Testers are paid for their time spent reviewing sites and apps.

This sounds interesting! I may just enter a contest and see what happens. It would be very exciting to win!

Yeah it would be. I was surprised by how many people are asking for help on there and that they are paying so much! I think it would be a lot of fun to do several of them and see what happens.

I love these types of things. My brother and I recently entered a contest to name a new gun that a manufacturing company is coming out with. We didn’t win. But we had a good laugh when we shared with each other the names we had submitted. 🙂

Thanks for Prizes.org, Miranda, it’s a great way to make money. But I don’t understand why you say it pays better than PickyDomains.com – PickyDomains pays $25 -$60 for most orders and most naming orders I see listed on Prizes.org offer $10 or $20. Am I getting something wrong?

I was referring to the one in the example that paid $150. There are a lot of them that pay more than Picky Domains, but many of them that do not. I enjoy Picky Domains, even if I have never been chosen. It is a lot of fun just to come up with ideas.

Are you referring to the logo design? I make my images in Illustrator. You can also download a program called Gimp and make them. Gimp is free. There are other free programs that allows you to make vector art too. Just have to do some online research.

Yes, this is a good point to bring up and something I really need to cover when working with sites like Prizes.org. Scammers were pulled into Prizes because Prizes.org had/has been offering a free $100 coupon for creating a contest that you spend at least so much money on. So I could go in and create a contest, pay fifty bucks. Choose my fake entry or a friend or family members entry, collect the earnings back and it will include Prizes $100 contribution, making me easy money and free ideas from all the entries. And leaving all of us who spent time entering, to have just wasted our time. This is very frustrating, especially to logo designers who spend hours perfecting a logo. But there is always a risk, but sometimes it is not worth the time.

If you are a logo designer, I suggest checking some other places out too. They all have their risks, but they dont offer the free upgrade of prize amount…making Prizes.org an EASY target and Prizes keepe doing it…so it leaves me to conclude that Prizes just does not care about the designers…why are they not trying to do more to stop this?

I like to check Freelancer.com, logomyway.com and crowdspring.com for logo contests. But I only do them in my spare time for fun, because I know most likely I wont win anyway.

yeah prizes.org does not care about contestants indeed. at present they are forcing people to post messages on twitter and fb for every entry one submits, even if one does not want to do this, one is forced to do this becuase other scammers (like this chut Mark Llyod Binar use 50-60 of their 3rd world internet addicted umpa lumpas to vote 100s of times for his every entry, almsot half of his won contests have been those where the contest creator forgot about the contest after creating it, making his 100 umpas lumpas the defacto contest creator and thats how he has been winning, he is rank 2 at the moment, but if you look at his work it is not even worth being in top 100. So this is how it is at the moment, prizes.org knows full well what is wrong and how they are wasting the time money and careers of 1000s of contestants, but right now they don’t care about it, they want a million tweets about their site daily by hook or by crook so that prizes.org attains critical mass. Maybe then they will start cleaning up the scum from their site, but for the moment they are turning a blind eye and scammers like MLB are taking full advantage of it, this person MLB has brought so much hatred in my mind regarding people of South East Asia that i will never go in that part of the world. i mean how jobless and unethical people in those countries must be if 100s of his dumbshits are helping him win every contest based on votes. I am hoping for a competitiot to prizes.org, i will close my account on prizes.org the day a worthy competitior comes up, unless they start doing what they should have long time ago and cleaned up and banned 100s of accounts that are clearly cheating. BTW i am rank 5 at the moment.

Funny who you mentioned because I too called this one out not long ago. He won a logo contest I entered. He did a fair job, it wasnt horrible but I was surprised he won. But it was close to being one that defaults to whoever had the most votes. He had like a hundred votes and they came out of nowhere. I have heard people are PAYING for votes! I don’t blame them though, what easy money! Prizes.org has turned into a pit hole for people to scam others out of their time and money.

Picky Domains is a good one for creative thinkers like you. I also recently read about another creative thinking site that pays well and I believe you could find a lot of value in: http://realwaystoearnmoneyonline.com/2012/02/get-paid-to-pick-out-a-company-name.html

It is always the same ones who win on prizes.org and boy have they got it sewn up. Professional designers (and I mean professionals with million dollar video/design technology) against the masses, so what chance does anybody have? Absolutely none! They may allow you to win a paltry $10 – $20 or so, but they keep the serious contests to themselves.
