Is CashTexts.com a Scam?

Updated on: by Amy Kennedy

I was recently referred to a website, Cashtexts.com where supposedly you can get paid to receive texts on your cell phone. I have researched this and would like to share my observations for your consideration and consider whether CashTexts.com is a Scam.

Cashtexts.com : What’s the Deal?

Here are the basics:

  • This is a referral only program so if you do decide to sign up you have to go through a referral link.
  • You will be paid 5 cents for every text you receive, and then 3 cents for the texts that your referrals receive down 5 levels.
    • Level 1 is your direct referrals, level two is their referrals etc.
  • There are also chances to win prizes for actually clicking on the deals that you receive in text form.
  • You will be paid through a Global Cash Card once you reach $5.00 however they do charge $5.00 for the cash card itself.
  • This is for US residents only.
    • If you live outside the US you can get paid for referrals but you can not receive texts at this time.

How Does This Work?

First you need to get a referral, then you can sign up.

You’ll provide your cell phone number and your e-mail address.

Once signed up you can log into the website and set up your preferences.

You will be able to select how many texts you want to receive per day, up to 5 texts is allowed and default is set to 1 per day. You can also select what days of the week and the hours of the day you would like to receive texts (between 8am and 10pm). There is even an option to turn texts and emails off so that you can take a break from receiving them if you wish.

Next, you will need to select your favorites so that the texts are geared toward your interests. There are a total of 16 categories broken down into 102 sub-categories. They request that you do not select more than 82 of the 102 available areas of interest.
Finally you’ll need to refer your friends and family so that you can make more money. You will receive an ID number and instructions on ways to refer. There is a code you can have your friends text to sign up, a link you can provide for online sign up and even a QR reader code you can supply as well.

Is This A Scam?

Honestly, it’s hard to say. I have researched online and found very little regarding this company. Apparently they are new and just starting out so I could not find any negative reviews anywhere. I did find a couple of positive reviews but I am hesitant to believe them because of the fact that even though they seemed to be posted by different people, they were worded EXACTLY the same…..word for word! This made me a bit skeptical as to whether or not they were being posted by real people or people who own or work for the company.

Since I did want to find out the details I did sign up but I have not received a single text from them. However, I did just receive this message through email on Thursday “With only a few days to go until the text messages start flowing be sure and get the word out!” I am still waiting for texts to start, but I think that explains why, they haven’t actually started yet. I will post an update later once I start receiving texts.

**I do want to note that in my research I found information on a different company called Textcash.com that is noted as being a scam. These two, although similar in name and business, are not the same.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Joining CashTexts.com?

When considering joining CashTexts.com, it’s important to carefully evaluate the potential advantages and disadvantages that come with being a member of the platform.

Here are details of the pros and cons to help you make an informed decision.

Pros of Joining CashTexts.com

1. Opportunity to Earn Money

One of the primary advantages of joining CashTexts.com is the potential to earn money by simply receiving text messages on your cell phone.

As a member, you are compensated 5 cents for each text you receive.

Additionally, you earn 3 cents for the texts received by your referrals down five levels.

This can serve as a passive income stream and provide you with extra cash.

2. Referral Program

CashTexts.com offers a referral program that can significantly boost your earnings.

By referring others to join the platform, you have the opportunity to earn money from the texts received by your referrals up to five levels deep.

This multi-level referral system can be a compelling incentive for members to recruit new participants and expand their earning potential.

3. Flexible Preferences

CashTexts.com allows you to tailor your text message preferences according to your personal needs.

Once you sign up, you can log into the website and set your desired preferences.

You can choose the number of texts you want to receive per day, with the default option being one text per day.

Moreover, you have the freedom to select specific days of the week and hours of the day during which you prefer to receive texts (between 8am and 10pm).

The platform also provides an option to temporarily turn off texts and emails, enabling you to take breaks from receiving them whenever desired.

This flexibility ensures that you can customize your engagement level based on your availability and preferences.

4. Chance to Win Prizes

CashTexts.com offers members the opportunity to win prizes by clicking on the deals received in text form.

This adds an element of excitement to the platform and presents the possibility of additional rewards beyond the regular earning structure.

While the details and frequency of these prize-winning opportunities may vary, they can be an attractive feature for members looking for a potential bonus.

Cons of Joining CashTexts.com

1. Limited Availability

A notable limitation of CashTexts.com is its current availability exclusively to residents of the United States.

If you reside outside the U.S., you can still participate in the referral program and earn money through referrals, but you will not be able to receive texts directly.

This geographical restriction significantly limits the accessibility of the platform, excluding individuals from other countries who may be interested in joining.

2. New and Limited Information

CashTexts.com is a relatively new company, which means there may be a scarcity of user reviews or substantial evidence regarding its legitimacy and reliability.

With limited information available online, it can be challenging to assess the platform’s credibility and make an informed judgment.

The absence of extensive user feedback or a well-established online presence may raise skepticism and make it harder to gauge the platform’s trustworthiness.

3. Cash Card Fees

CashTexts.com pays its members through a Global Cash Card once they reach the minimum payout threshold of $5.00.

However, it’s important to note that there is a $5.00 charge for the cash card itself.

While this fee is deducted from your earnings, it is worth considering when evaluating the actual amount you receive.

It is essential to factor in this cost to ensure you have a clear understanding of your financial benefits and expenses associated with the platform.

My Final Impressions

This gig will not, by any means, make you rich. It will not pay your electric bill and certainly not your rent or mortgage. However, it does seem to have to potential to possibly buy you a cup of coffee or some other small treat here and there. Maybe, if you get enough people to join (and they get people to join and they get people to join etc.) you will find yourself earning $50 or so extra at the end of the month. In the event you actually get your 5 texts a day, and you don’t have any referrals, you would be making $7.50 at the end of the month….small change but all you have to do is receive a few texts a day to get it. If you don’t mind receiving texts then this might be of interest to you. I do plan on giving this until the end of January and then I will post a follow up to let you know how it’s going.

If you would like to sign up, feel free to sign up under me, my link is http://cashtexts.com/by/WorkingMom2000 or you can text the phrase cashtexts 46182 to the number 69302 (make sure there is a space between cashtexts and 46182)

Good detective work, Deb! It doesn’t sound all that difficult to do.

Just to let everyone know, I still have not received a single text from them. I am still waiting and hope to be pleasantly surprised soon.

We have to build a network for the advertisers to be attracted. Many have told us that they will start sending texts once we have 100,000 Mobile-Verified. We’re at about 30,000 so far… build build build.

We may start seeing texts soon from other companies who aren’t waiting for that 100,000 mark.

I was speaking with our VP Sales a few nights ago and he’s been on the phone with MAJOR corporations. One name he dropped was of a soda company. Another was a fast food restaurant chain. Another was a major grocery store chain. He said there were many companies like that.

Just keep building… the sooner we give this major corporations a network to send texts to the sooner we’ll get them.

Keep up the good work!

Listen to http://bit.ly/cshtxt-cc1 if you want to hear from the President and CEO of Cash Texts talk about the company.

I own equity in Cash Texts and I know more than the average subscriber. My personal referral network is currently over 100 personal referrals and a total of nearly 900.

I was talking with the VP Sales recently and he told me that he’s been talking with large companies — names everyone knows.

If you want more texts you need to build a network. If you build a network the texts will come. This is a start-up and those who are visionaries and go-getters will become wealthy if they refer a lot of people. Once we have 50,000 – 100,000 Mobile-Verified subscribers we will see a lot more texts.

If you want to learn how to build a strong LOCAL business (where you don’t have to rely on national advertisers who want to send you messages) listen to http://goo.gl/cWz2K

Please answer this question I have searched for everywhere: Why in the world does it need my social security number? I know not to give it out to untrusted websites because of identity theft and all that, so why does it need my SSN? It says it needs it to pay me but that doesnt make any sense, why can’t they just send me the card or use a paypal or something?

Social Security Numbers are asked for by many companies when they suspect you will earn upwards of $600 in a year. Any time they pay someone at least $600 they are required to send the person a 1099 for tax purposes. However, some companies choose to send out 1099s for people who earn even less than the $600 minimum. I once received one for $34 I earned on a site.

The terms in the agreement state:

Section III: IRS W9 Information The Tax ID number must match the name as shown on your income tax return to avoid backup withholding. For individuals, this is your social security number.

also feel free to contact CashTexts directly to get an accurate answer.

I hope this answers your question. But I say to ALWAYS stick to your gut. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable about giving personal information- just don’t do it! Even if completely legit sites like mine make it seem okay, your gut trumps…we make mistakes and we have also found that some companies start off good and but turn bad when they begin to see how much they could make by selling their member’s out.

Good luck!!

Thank you VERY much for your answer, I now understand why it is required. I have signed up, but no texts have come yet. Has it worked for you yet?

Good point Miranda. This is really helpful. BTW, if anyone needs to fill out a Form W-9, I found a blank form here http://goo.gl/4cgQA9. This site PDFfiller also has some tutorials how to fill it out and a few related tax forms that you might find useful.

Been signed up a long time. Having problem with text coming to my pre-paid phone but do get e-mails from time to time about meetings and stuff. Still no paying stuff and I haven’t referred anyone until I know it will pay. I have about 30 people that will sign up if it works. I got in when there were only about 25,000 signed up and were trying to reach 80-100 M to get going. Still waiting! Want to update with them if there is still a chance for it to work. How about any one out there who is getting paid.
